Chairman of the City Council, Jasmin Ademović, paid tribute and laid flowers on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the death of the first president of the RBiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegović.

The 19th anniversary of the death of Alija Izetbegović, the first president of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was marked today at the Kovača Martyr’s Cemetery in Sarajevo by laying flowers and reciting the Fatiha.

On behalf of the City of Sarajevo, the chairman of the City Council, Jasmin Ademović, laid flowers and paid his respects.

Flowers were also laid by numerous delegations from all levels of government in BiH, representatives of the diplomatic corps, veterans’ associations, and others.

Today, the citizens of Sarajevo and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina remember, pay respect and express gratitude to the first president of the RBiH Presidency, Alija Izetbegović.

Alija Izetbegović was born on August 8, 1925 in Bosanski Šamac, and died on October 19, 2003 in Sarajevo. He was buried at the Kovača Martyr’s Cemetery.
